STB Kit School Fundraiser
Background
Since 2019, local responders and health care personnel have provided Stop the Bleed training for Saginaw County schools at no cost. While the training is essential, it is also important to have the medical supplies needed to apply what was learned in training. Improvised medical supplies can work, but the most effective tools are those specifically designed to control life-threatening bleeding (e.g., sterile packing material, commercially made tourniquets, etc.)
Having the needed supplies is critical, but just as important is having them readily available during a life-threatening bleeding emergency. For this reason, we have set a goal of putting a Stop the Bleed kit in every classroom in Saginaw County. Having STB kits in each classroom ensures that the needed life-saving supplies are quickly available.
The Need
Since 2019, we have used grant funds to purchase over 300 STB kits, which have been issued to schools throughout the county. However, at about $60.00 per kit and an estimated need of about 1200 more kits, grant money will not be sufficient. We have been working with local organizations that have generously donated funds, but in order to meet our goals quickly, fundraising efforts are being expanded to the community.
A list of those who have already donated can be found on the homepage.
